Viele Grüße und alles Gute, Christian A. Gerhardt, Donnerstag, 5. Mai 2011 09:05

Hi Lutz,It is a pity that you haven't come to the Long Shot 2011. The longest distance was 1750 m and it was very nice to shoot, unfortunately with only eight SUPER MAGNUM competitors.I mentioned to you already last year, the "rings" on MSG bullets are not strong enough. I have recovered a few bullets in very good condition and they show that the first rings are not strong enough to rotate the bullet. They are getting partly shaved. Only last two rings are not shaved and they start to rotate the bullet. I think that it is not good for the precision. I may imagine that the shaving is not exactly the same in each bullet so the accuracy would suffer a lot.I enclose 2 pictures showing the problem.
In my opinion it would be good to make the first ring wider. Say I would like it to be 1.2 to 1.5 mm wide. This would prevent the lands of the barrel to shave the right edges of the rings. If you manufacture say 50 bullets of this type I would like to test them and compare for accuracy with your standard bullets. I hope that it is possible.Best regards, Jurek, Sonntag, 1. Hallo Jurek,I had an Invitation for a Roe buck hunt on 1. May, that I accepted, before the the Long Shot Date was published, so I could not come. Unfortunately, my Invitator hat to see the Hospital for an Emergency kidney operation, so I neither had Fun on the Range nor in the Woods. Aggravating was, a Friend of mine suddenly died, so my Mood is below Zero.Anyway back to Your "Problem", that in my Opinion is none. We also recovered som Bullets in December in Texas 2009
You see the LM-105´s from a progressive Twist, that always sacrifices some Drivebands. Of Course the Bullet hits the Lands after picking up some Speed already. In Case the Leade or Throat is rather long, we observe the Effect You clearly show on Your Pictures. As long as the Bullets rotate "Drive band shaving", as You call the Stripping, is no Problem at all.
458 KJG Führbänder abgeschert
These .458" Drive band were completely stripped. That truely is a Problem. But let me know, which the Reason behind Your Question is. Is Your Question purely academic, or happens something else, that You ask me?Regards Lutz
Hi Lutz,My question was not academic. I think that making the first drive band wider would improve accuracy of the MSG bullet. The only way to test this is to try it. So my question is if you may supply me with 50 bullets manufactured with wider 1st band. If it works better I will order much more of them. Another question. I understand that you require 250 mm rifling twist for your new and very interesting 1022 bullet. Have you tested this bullet in 10" and 13' barrels or you have just calculated this?Best regards, Jurek, 2. Mai 2011 00:58
Jurek, befor I play with Bullets I would like to know the Leade and Throat of You Rifle. Please supply. My new 1022 ultra low Drag Bulled combines the Wisdom of Haack and Adams in one Design with Drive band technique in a suitable Material for Steel barrels. The Twis rewuirement, while calculated, are still a bes Guess, as the Model fits the real Parts not so well. So ist will allways be safe to cut Barrels with Twists on the short Side of Varition. Lon Twists are not suitable for long Ranges - not at all. To outperform the Pack You must use long Bullets in short Twists, in my case ~ 6,5 cal long Bullets in 20 cal Twist or less. Not all my ULD´s are built like that, when other Circumstances from the Case or Powders dictate other. So please return with the (real) Leade and Throat dimensions, befor we continue. Regards Lutz
Betreff: Nipter 2011
Lutz, the chamber was made by Martino according to the specification that you have. That is all I know. I am not very fond of making castings of the chamber and the throat. First of all it takes long time to make it well as my experience in this respect is very small. Second - there is always a small chance to damage the barrel. The third problem is that at the moment I don't have sulfur granulate or soft lead plugs.
LM: Jurek, I check with Martino.
I think that it is much quicker, to turn some bullets with stronger leading band and test fire them, provided that you plan to manufacture 408 MSG bullets soon. This will or will not improve the accuracy and I would know if the wider band is a remedy for my accuracy problems. Very often I have fairly good groups at 300 m (4 shots at the circle of 7-10 cm) and one flyer that goes Wild 15 - 20 cm from the group.
LM: I do not call that good at all in 300 m, provided Wind is calm.
It may be due to the distortions of the bands. It may also be something else, but I would like to eliminate at least this. When I use original 419 gr Jamisson bullets I don't see this problem and the groups are typically 6 - 8 cm.
LM: How many can You fire in a Row, befor Fouwling spoils the Party?
That is why I would appreciate to get "Modified MSG" with considerably wider the first band. It is just a marginal change in CNC program. Of course the leading edge should be in the same position like in MSG. If you can't supply 50 bullets with this modification I will try to turn something like this on CNC here in Poland. Even if the BC after the modification will be somewhat lower, it may be worth trying. Your bullets fly very well at long distances and I don't expect that very small BC change due to wider band (if any) will be of any importance. My subjective opinion is that 1022 will not need such a tight twist. I have my own theory on this, but I will not discus it, before I make a few experiments to confirm my feelings. Is it possible to obtain 10 bullets of 1022 type?
LM: I see, what I can do for You. Notice: This is not an Invitation for the Public to ask such. This is just for Jurek!
Best regards, Jurek, Montag, 2. Mai 2011 11:24
Dear Lutz,I'm shooting caliber 408CT for almost two years.
I use only MSG1021.I just saw you produce a new bullet MSG1022. I am interested to test. Do I place an order as I usually do?
LM: No. Think first. This longer MSG1022 is for shorter 250 mm Twist. So unles Ypu rebarrel, You will not stabilize the longer Bullet for less Wind drift for longer Ranges.
I just read the comments on your site and I'm amazed that speaks of the shooters group of 7 - 10 cm at 300 m.
LM: With 408, or what?
This corresponds to 0.8 <E MoA <1.15. That seems huge to make shooting 1.500 m / 2.000m. Can you point me to a reference (in MoA) of your shooting experience with this nose 1022?
LM: No. They have nver been shot.
And possibly also with the bullet MSG1021, just to make a comparison.
LM: Yes, here:
Giuseppe Spiccola shot 2006 three of my 1021 in 1.005 m in a 69 mm Group. Good enough?
Thank You very muchChristophe, New Caledonia, Mittwoch, 28. März 2012 02:54
Thank Lutz for your message in your website. Your help in setting my ammunition to make a score will be much appreciated, of course :o))I'm glad to see your answer on your site. It made me smile. Last year, chatting with my daughter (20 years) she told me in all sincerity "you can not understand, you are too old now ..." I 48 years this year! Earlier this year, I reflected on 30 years I have left to live (if I can) and I look at the possibilities to change my everyday, my future. A reflection not easy! :o(( I even considered opening a gun shop, but I am not competent enough in weapons and calibers. Besides it takes a lot of money for such projects. But a career in the weapons would have liked. Let...
If you want to come to New Caledonia this is a good idea. Personally I will be abscent territory for several periods at year end (July 18-25 + August 1-12 + September 1-16 + 27oct -November 5) for my martial activities (www.goshinkan.eu ).
LM: Ah, in my younger Years I did Aikido in Hamburg. This looks familiar.
If you choose to come this year, I shall be delighted to show you a part of New Caledonia and my friends shooters and gunsmiths. I think you will experience moments sympathetic.Have a good night and good dream :o))Christophe
Lutz,I am not sure of what is going on, because I do not read German, and online translators are not good enough. But is there any debate on someone having accuracy problems with your bullets? Please, illustrate me on the subject... Last weekend I took my 7x65R on a management hunt, and with a properly adjusted ASV turret in my Victory 5-15 I had no troubles in dropping down two Ibexes, one at 427 meters, the other at 488. I was concerned about how well the KJG would perform at such distance (low velocity) and on a very soft target, but fragmentation, ergo tissue damage, was perfect. I hit the first one square in the center of the chest and found it 40 meters away. When shooting the second one, I did not allow enough correction for the wind and hit too far back, but as it was slightly quartering away the bullet went out just behind its left shoulder. I found it 30 meters away from theAnschuß.
LM: Well done, even considerin the slight Error with the Wind.

Hallo Herr Möller, bitte um Preis für 200 Schuß LM Munition in Kal. 408.
LM: In welches Land bitte?
